In 2025, PPM secured a grant from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT) through the Australia-Indonesia Institute Grant Program. With this grant, we are collaborating with Universitas Sebelas Maret (USM) in Surakarta on the island of Java, Indonesia.

The goal of this collaboration is to develop a new joint community education program that encourages communities in Victoria and Java to engage in sustainable use of plastic and address pollution. It involves academics and staff members from USM travelling to Monash University in October 2025, and members of PPM travelling to USM in February 2026. During these visits, we will run workshops and public lectures to spread awareness about plastic pollution and develop some educational resources!
