Pause Fest 2019

Written by Dion Zhang

On the 6th-8th February, Precious Plastic Monash (PPM) were lucky enough to get the opportunity to exhibit at Pause Fest - “World’s leading creativity infused business event.” hosted at Federation Square, Melbourne. Teaming up with Monash Materials Science and Engineering, PPM exhibited at the Tech Garden to demonstrate the efforts in plastic recycling and sustainability by Monash University students. PPM were able to showcase the final products developed by Industrial Design Students: The PPM Injector workshop and the Gravestone Project.

PPM Injector workshop - Indi Shugg's Injector workshop enables people to interact with an Injector machine using customisable moulds. This aims to engage and educate the community in plastic sustainability.

The Gravestone Project - The Gravestone Project by Nhu Duong questions the relationship we have with plastic and its application releases plastic from its utilitarian duty. This concept reflects plastic persistence through time and challenges the notion of symbolic death versus literal death.

Pause fest proved to be a great way to engage the public on the plastic recycling problem in Australia and opportunities for future collaborations.
